Content

 Two girls browsing in the subject catalogue of the public library in Tilburg. The card catalogue system which was first used in a Parisian library, was used in the Netherlands for the first time in 1876 by the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet. Due to the rapid advance of computerisation in the 1980s, this type of catalogue was replaced more and more by computers.
