Content

Cartoon on the (temporary) discontinuance in 1781 of the Orangist "'s-Gravenhaegsche Courant", published by the newspaperman, bookseller and printer, Pierre Frédéric Gosse of The Hague. Gosse is shown in the entrance to his shop which could be found at the corner of the Vijverberg and the Gevangenpoort. Above the door we can see: 'P.F. Gosse Librarie de la cour'. Gosse was working for stadholder William V and was a fierce defender of his interests against the opposition of the patriots.
