Content

 From c. 1850 more and more books were published in series. The supply was very large and varied and contained something for everyone. This shop poster refers to twenty titles in the series "Lectuur op reis en in de huiskamer", published by K. Fuhri in The Hague They were thin, cheap booklets but with a print-run of 740 copies per issue and measured by the standards of the time, very successful. The vignettes, also shown on the booklets themselves, always show people reading.
