Content

In the preface to this edition of "Den grooten oprechten onvervalsten Italiaenschen waer-segger" the anonymous publisher maintains that 'hollantse Egyptenaren' (gypsies) had put a forged edition on the market which they were selling for 'half stivers, yea, as if for nothing'. For this reason he himself had published a cheap edition in small format but had now decided to print a quarto edition. The copy, however, supposedly from Bologna, was as fictitious as the author Antonio Magino. The accompanying illustrations have, by the way, nothing to do with the text.
