Content

The market for books in French partly lay beyond the borders of the Netherlands, and a translation into Dutch for the Dutch market was published in 1482 by the Gouda printer Gerard Leeu. The printer of the depicted copy in French was, however, specialised in publications in that language. Of the 25 publications from his press, 22 are in French. The text of the books starts halfway the page to leave enough space for a decorative element which had not been added in this case.
