Content

 The book is an allegory in prose in which is described how the people dance for the three lind powers: Cupido, Fortune and Atropos (Death). The last paragraph on this final page starts and ends with the first and last name of the author: Pierre Michault. He was a priest and, in 1466, secretary of Charles the Bold, and wrote besides 'La Danse' three more works, also in French. Before the book was printed, it had also appeared in manuscript form.
