Interior of Donner's bookshop in Rotterdam. Donner started as a bookshop on the Gedempte Botersloot in 1912 specialising in theology, developed into the largest bookshop in the Netherlands. Apart from size, the characteristics of these sorts of mega- shops are a well-thought-out routing, so that customers can easily move on, well-organised layout, sales islands, snug corners and an atmosphere conducive to funshopping and impulse buying.
