Content

 Extract from a patent, granted by the States General and the States of Holland for a period of ten years, to Jan Canin of Dordrecht for his "Chronica Carionis" (1586). Through this patent, Canin was exclusively authorized for ten years to print and sell the title. At the same time, others were prohibited to (re)print the "Chronica Carionis" without his permission, under penalty of confiscation and a fine. In the same year, Canin produced two reprints, but it woul not be until 1629 before a new edition appeared, printed by J. Jansz of Arnhem.
