Content

This 1586 edition of the "Chronica Carionis" was a joint venture between printer Jan Canin, of Dordrecht, and the Amsterdam-based publisher-bookseller Cornelis Claesz. Canin had an exclusive privilege for printing and selling the book for a period of ten years. For selling it, he found a partner in Claesz. Remarkable is the misrepresentation in the imprint of Claesz' shopsign. Instead of 'int Schryfboeck' [in the Writing Book] we read 'int Rekenboeck' [in the Arithmetic Book']. In a joint Bible edition from 1584, the shopsign was also named 'int Rekenboeck'.
