Content

The organisation of the production of printed books was much more complex than that of manuscripts. In this French miniature we see a printing shop in full operation. To the right, texts are corrected and composed, to the left, a printer with two ink balls in his hands while another printer is operating the press. This page is unique and shows that both the making of manuscripts and the printing of books continued side by side for some time.
