Content

In 1525, an edition of the New Testament, based on the translation by Luther, appeared in Deventer. This copy, published in two volumes, is printed on vellum. The (coloured) woodcuts point to a German influence. Albert Pafraet was the son and successor of Richard Pafraet, the most important printer of Deventer, who had been active in this town from about 1477 and who died in 1512. Albert continued his father's list: mostly edifying works, schoolbooks, editions of the classics, grammars, etc.
