Content

This kind of simply produced, fairly small booklets, was published a lot in the 16th century. As disseminator of new ideas in the religious and social field, and as a means of propaganda, books play a new role in the tumultuous Netherlands of the 16th century. This binding contains treatises by David Jorisz, the author, painter and theologian born in Bruges who was exiled from Delft in 1528 for his heretical ideas. After having joined the Anabaptists he founded his own sect.
