Content

This natural history of cattle in Holland consists of six volumes, published between 1805 and 1811. It was a very expensive series: the volume which was published in 1805 cost NLG 10 onits own, which was four times as much as an ordinary book of such a size. This plate is the largest and the most expensive: it cost NLG 2 with an additional sum of eight stivers for the colouring. It illustrates how one cow in ten years time can have 143 descendants.
