Content

 The earliest known newspaper in the Northern Netherlands appeared on 14 June 1618. It was published in Amsterdam by Jan van Hilten and printed by Joris Veseler. Initially this paper appeared once a week on a random day, but from 1624 onwards it appeared every Saturday. The last known number dates from 14 May 1669. Van Hilten's newspapers appeared in Dutch, French and English.
