Content

 Pedlar with his wares, consisting of all kinds of books, on the square in front of the Oldehove in Leeuwarden. Outside the regular trade in books, in the 17th and 18 centuries, a lively ambulatory trade existed. Pedlars travelling far and wide sold cheap piracies, pamphlets, songs, almanacs, newspapers and farcical booklets, often to the dissatisfaction of the established booksellers.
