Content

 This print is part of an allegorical series of four prints representing the periods of the day. It is the first of the series: morning. It shows two children just off to school. The girl has a slate hanging from her arm, the boy a kind of wooden satchel. In the background are two figures (the father of the children and an elder brother?) looking at a few books.
