Content

This is the only complete copy of `Epigrammata ad Falconem' (Short poems dedicated to notary Valk) by Baptista Mantuanus. Teaching material such as this was worn out by pupils and in the past often not considered worth preserving. Until recently, only fragments of the Deventer edition of 1521 were known to exist in the municipal archives of Kampen. Editions of the poems by Baptista Mantuanus (1448-1516), an Italian Carmelite, were much used in his days in grammar school teaching. On the title page his work is recommended by Henricus van Almelo, headmaster in Gorcum.
