Content

The title page of this small schoolbook has a printer's device as illustration in which the various printer's activities are clearly seen. On the left the compositor is working at his case, in the centre the printer is operating the press and to the left of him a boy with two ink balls in his hands. On the right a gentleman in beautiful 16th-century clothing (the author or corrector?) holds a printed sheet. Theodoor de Borne was a typical Deventer printer who published predominantly schoolbooks and editions of classical authors. The inside of this copy also has many handwritten annotations.
