In the top picture we see the ideal bookshop of 1915: a broad front door, a middle passage, counters to the left and the right with assistants behind them and along the walls the cases with books. To the left a woman behind glass is keeping the accounts. The ideal customer here is a gentleman in a top hat, accompanied by an automobile and a chauffeur. Below a bookshop of 1815, the year when the 'Vereeniging ter bevordering van de belangen des boekhandels' was founded.
