 In this print of the old town hall in Amsterdam, which was burned down in the seventeenth century, a number of shops can be seen on the right against the wall. This site was called 'in de cas, onder 't stad-huys'. There were also various booksellers established here in the seventeenth century as elsewhere around Dam Square
