Content

 In 2001, the fiftieth anniversary of the bibliobus or mobile library was celebrated. It was set up as a low-threshold facility for those who had no library in the vicinity and who had no, or hardly any, transport of their own such as children and old people. The first bus set off in 1951 with about 850 books on the shelves. This is the youth book vehicle of the Provincial Library of Central Drenthe, photographed in August 1951.
